EUROTHERM
Controller
Installation notes
While establishing a connection via RS-232 we made few remarks:
-
line parameters are: 9600 7e1
-
protocol is based on ANSI X3.28-2.5 A4 standard for message framing
-
documentation of protocol can be found at http://www.eurotherm2.com/manuals/2kcomms.pdf.
Useful data are on pages 29-34 (Chapter 4, section about EI-BISYNCH PROTOCOL)
-
for device at B2 station both UID and GID were "00"
-
while calculating block checksum (BCC) do the following (it's not clearly
described in the documentation):
-
0xFF XOR (1st byte of block)
-
(previous result) XOR (2nd byte of block)
-
.
-
.
-
.
-
(previous result) XOR (last byte of block)
-
(previous result) XOR 0xFF
-
the result of last operation is (BCC)
-
There is about 20-30 parameters in the controller you can read and/or set.
For details refer to documentation
of 818 (e.g. for parameter names and meanings see Chapter 6.3, p.38)
-
Do not read "818 (2.9mb)Operations Manual 'Issue 10'" - gives nothing.
-
A bit (only bit) better is "818
(2.5mb)Engineering Manual 'Issue 3'"
-
Since 02/12/1999 in SPECTRA software there is special command 'x328' reading/setting
parameters using EI-Bisynch (e.g. Eurotherm 818) protocol - see below.
Author of this interface is Thorsten
Kracht.
Usage within SPECTRA
What do you have to do in order to control Eurotherm remotely within SPECTRA
in Hasylab:
1. Open socket:
open/socket/des=heater1/host=hast10/port=3538
2. You can set a temperature T (in fact: local setpoint):
x328(heater1,SL)=T
3. You can read current temperature t1:
t1=x328(heater1,PV)
4. After finished measurement, close the socket:
close/socket/des=heater1
Notice:
heater1, T, t1 are just name
of variables - you can change them
'SL' - is name of parameter in Eurotherm Controller (Local Setpoint)
used for set target temperature
'PV' - is name of parameter in Eurotherm Controller (current
temperature)
host and port number are specific for controller at B2
station (Hasylab/DESY)
